In 2008, the SHS Wind Ensemble also has received national recognition by the National Wind Band Honors project. The award recognizes
the SHS Wind Ensemble as one of the top 2 bands of all entrants received nationwide for Class 4A. See the link below for
detail.

All District Pre-UIL Awards
Congratulations to the SHS Raider Band for receiving a 1st Division at the UIL Region 7 Marching Band Contest! Excellent job!
Congratulations
also goes out to the SHS Raider Band for placing 7th in the Duncanville Marching Invitational on November 1st! The contest included
21 bands of both 4A and 5A classification. This is the first year SHS has made it to the top 10 for finals. Way to go!
Congratulations to the SHS Colorguard for winning
1st place and earning recognition as the 2008 NTCA Circuit Champion
Region A Class Purple Division on 4/4/2008!
Congratulations to the SHS Drum Majors who earned 3rd place in the UTA Conducting Challenge at the UTA Drum Major Camp held the week
of June 22-26. Approximately 50 Drum Major teams participated in the competition.

Congratulations to the SHS
Wind Ensemble!
The Southwest High School Wind Ensemble advanced to the state level TMEA 4A Honor Band Competition on June 25, 2009 in Odessa,
TX. Southwest, placing first, was one of two ensembles who will advance from the TMEA Area B Competition.
The
group, competing against 14 bands from across the state, will face the final adjudication on July 26th. Southwest previously
tied for 2nd place in the TMEA 4A Honor Band Competition held previously in 2007.
